This course prepares the systems technician to maintain a general ECPINS® system and, in particular, your organization’s system. It describes the “nuts and bolts” of ECPINS, including components, configuration, and basic operation. The student will learn how to back up, upgrade, and – most importantly – diagnose problems. Lessons include:

- Introduction to using ECPINS
- General technical procedures
- System overview
- Hardware
- Software
- Operating System (including drivers setup for different components, e.g Xenex, NIC, SEU)
- Adjusting the display (included in Operating System)
- Vessel simulation in ECPINS
- Chart loading and display (included in Introduction to using ECPINS)
- Networked system components and connection (included in hardware)
- Sensor setup
- Alarms: Potential dangers
- Automatic voyage recording
- Maintenance (backup, upgrade)
- Trouble shooting
