Subsurface - ECPINS® DMOP

ECPINS Digital Maritime Operations Plot (DMOP) is the market’s first digital maritime operations plot with full navigation functionality replacing the electromechanical Ship’s Navigation and Plotting System (SNAPS).

The ground breaking ECPINS DMOP combines modern electronics and information technology into one powerful navigation tool for improved situational awareness.

The SNAPS table provides basic navigation functionality by calculating and tracking the ship’s position against a paper chart. It also provides a limited Local Operations Plot (LOP) function by performing target motion analysis on user input sonar and periscope information.

The navigation function is performed by ECPINS, an electronic chart system that has been certified as the primary navigation system for the Australian, UK, Canadian, Danish, New Zealand and Portuguese navies.

ECPINS DMOP is the result of the collaboration of Offshore Systems’ Engineering team and customers to deliver navigation solutions that perform in challenging environments and restrictive space. ECPINS DMOP offers functionality and performance in one comprehensive system. It can house hardware for a dual WECDIS and a Simplified-Voyage Data Recorder (S-VDR).

Aside from an LOP with the ability to conduct multiple Target Motion Analysis (TMA) the ECPINS DMOP is not limited by the ‘paper chart in use’, unlike SNAPS The LOP can be expanded to become an extension to the Recognized Maritime Picture. Long range picture compilation and intelligence assessment can be made from a single position.

ECPINS DMOP has also been successfully interfaced with the Lockheed Martin Submarine Fire Control System (SFCS) and SFCS software. A horizontally mounted monitor and Operator Control Panel (OCP) can be shared between SFCS and ECPINS within the ECPINS PT system.
