Offshore Systems specializes in developing and supporting software solutions for military and commercial applications. We have extensive experience in developing solutions for Microsoft Windows and Linux environments. Typically software development is performed in C, C++ and Java. Our team’s domain expertise covers navigation, geographic information systems, command and control and situational awareness.
Our extensive domain expertise and software engineering practices support the building of software utilizing our existing core assets or bespoke development enabling us to provide customized solutions to our customer’s specific requirements.
We manage our software assets using a Product Line approach. The goals of this approach as stated by the Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute are high quality, quick time to market, effective use of limited resources, product alignment, low cost of production, low cost of maintenance, mass customization and mind share.
The safety critical nature of many of our products drives our software verification and validation processes. These processes and procedures are used to demonstrate conformance to the International Maritime Organization’s (IMO) Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) standard, the UK Ministry of Defence Def-Stan 00-56 and the Commonwealth of Australia’s Def Aust 5679. In addition to internal testing our marine navigation products are subject to third party certification to assure conformance to the IMO’s SOLAS requirements.
We have experience in the development of closely coupled redundant systems, distributed client server architectures and web-based solutions. Our experience includes working with military, marine and commercial communication protocols.
