Project Profile
In early 2004, Offshore Systems won the contract to supply the Electronic Chart Precise Integrated System (ECPINS®) to 15 of TeeKay’s Aframax tankers. These systems were followed by a further 11 systems in 2005 and early 2006 bringing the total to 26.
In 2006, Teekay bought a further six dual ECPINS systems for six of their new build Aframax tankers. There were two notable aspects to this contract. The first was that the systems will be incorporated into new ships as opposed to retrofits on existing ships. The second aspect is that by installing dual systems, Teekay will now have the ability to navigate paperless and use their ECPINS system as the primary means of navigation with no paper chart backup.
