“We selected Offshore Systems' S-VDR 5000 because of the added value of capturing the ECDIS screen shots. With the integration of ECPINS ECDIS system and S-VDR we can now get extra value from the mandatory purchase of an S-VDR.”

Founded in 1956, Peter Döhle Schiffahrts - KG (Peter Döhle) shipping group located in Hamburg, Germany is the operator and exclusive chartering agent for a modern fleet of about 170 container ships and bulk carriers.
Project Profile
Peter Döhle is under contract for the installation and service of eight ECPINS® 4000 commercial grade navigation systems. Under the terms of the contract, ECPINS will be installed on eight of Peter Döhle's minibulk carriers.
ECPINS helps reduce the risk of navigation related incidents by giving bridge crews a precise, real-time display of their position, course and speed against a background of fixed obstacles and other navigational hazards. The system provides advanced navigation, precise vessel prediction, radar and target control functionalities to assist the bridge team in difficult manoeuvring and traffic situations.
In March 2007 Peter Döhle purchased S-VDR 5000 systems for five of their vessels (Alexandria, Aida, Attika, Aurelia and Ariga). Each will get S-VDR 5000 upgrades to their ECPINS systems. Three additional S-VDR 5000 systems will be purchased in the near future.
ECPINS/S-VDR 5000 captures the ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display and Information System) screens in addition to the required S-VDR data, adding a further benefit by providing a complete picture of the navigational situation. This is important for post incident investigation but also offers customers the ability to improve training by showcasing best navigation practices.
