MEDIA ADVISORY: OSI to demonstrate software recognized by the Royal Navy and other NATO allies as the world’s most advanced electronic chart navigation system
Vancouver, Canada -- Offshore Systems International Ltd.’s (TSX: OSI/ OTCBB: OFSYF) software is the power behind the electronic chart system that is transforming shipboard navigation for the Royal Navy since the days of Admiral Lord Nelson in the 18 th century. OSI’s ‘WECDIS’ software is currently being installed on submarine and surface vessels across the Royal Navy fleet.
During Trafalgar 200 in Portsmouth, OSI will host a WECDIS demonstration and presentation at Horizons located at the “Action Stations” Display, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, on June 27 from 1200 to 1330 (lunch provided) and on June 29 from 1400 to 1530 (lunch provided). All media are invited to attend. OSI will also host an Open House at Horizons to showcase its world-leading electronic chart navigation systems from 1100 to 1630 on June 27 and 1000 to 1630 on June 29.
Several vessels participating in the International Fleet Review on June 28 are equipped with OSI’s latest navigation technology, including the Royal Navy’s HMS Illustrious, HMS Westminster, HMS Nottingham and the Canadian Navy’s HMCS Montreal. The company’s ‘WECDIS’ software helped plan the precise positioning and anchorage of the approximately 160 vessels in the Review.
OSI is the dominant supplier of electronic chart systems to NATO and their close allies. In addition to the Royal Navy, OSI is fleet supplier to the navies of Australia, Canada, Denmark, Portugal and New Zealand. Its system and software is also the preferred choice of the US Coast Guard, Canadian Coast Guard and Teekay Shipping.
