Offshore Systems Delivers ECPINS® System for Lockheed Martin Sea SLICE Vessel in time for Fleet Battle Experiment-Juliet
"We're very pleased to have been chosen as a supplier for the Sea SLICE vessel, and to be supporting Fleet Battle Experiment - Juliet," said John Jacobson, President and CEO of the company. "The Sea SLICE is a remarkable ship that was developed to explore advanced hull form capabilities. It is fast, has a scaleable design architecture, is highly stable at all speed ranges in rough waters including sea state 5, and can be rapidly reconfigured to support different missions ranging from mine countermeasures to anti-submarine warfare and force protection."
During the two-and-a-half week experiment, Sea SLICE will operate approximately eighty miles (128 kilometers) off the San Diego coast in a combat environment classified as "cluttered littoral." The vessel will face real and simulated threats from surface, sub-surface and airborne sources. One of the significant themes for Sea SLICE and the entire experiment will be "reduced manning requirements", which will be met by grouping information management hardware and ship automation tools.
